Dear David
Congratulations on winning the Conservative Party leadership election. At Velorution, we are glad that your rise to this new position has not distracted you from the pleasure of cycling.
However, it has come to our attention that you could benefit from some advice if you are to continue cycling in your new role as leader of the opposition and prospective prime minister. We feel that your choice of bicycle, cycle clothing and accessories do not adequately meet the needs of a senior politician.
Perhaps a “Modell T Pedersen” would better suit you in your new office. On this century old design you could make a strong statement about your traditional values as you glide, gracefully down Constitution Hill on your way to work.
Alternatively, you might wish to consider the “Retrovelo Klaus”. This stylish streamlined bicycle may be just the marriage of modern design and conservative values you need to present your agenda to the country.
A potential difficulty with these bicycles is their Danish and German origins respectively. This may cause undesirable ructions with the Eurosceptic wing of your party. By way of a solution, we could provide them with a quick rebrand as the “Model T Peterson” and the “Retrocycle Charles”.
If these name changes just seem like cheap spin, you could always consider the Pashley Roadster. This classic, British design, with an elevated upright riding position will surely help you set your tone for the coming parliament, as well as providing you with a comfortable, quick, clean and stylish ride from Notting Hill to the office.
We would also suggest that your helmet projects an overly cautious image to the electorate. If you are worried that the press might accuse you of being reckless, for cycling without a helmet, why not tell them that you rely on your sense of vision and common sense to keep safe? You could even add that cycle helmets breed a culture of complacency amongst motorists.
If you have any cycling queries or you would like to test ride any of the bicycles mentioned, please feel free to visit our showroom at 18 Great Titchfield Street, London W1. We could also arrange a cycle clothing makeover, if you provide us with advanced notice of your visit.
Yours sincerely
The Velorution Team
