  • Big front page splash with a big spelling mistake :-) .
Adam Coffman from the CTC, and Filibus rider, is quoted: “Central government cannot take much credit for the growth in cycling because the money has not been put in. This has been a movement from the bottom up led from places like London. The growth is very encouraging but we still lack a cycling culture in Britain. There is a tendency to think you need to don special clothes and buy an expensive bike whereas cycling needs to be seen as part of normal activity – what you do to go to the shops, school or work.”

I’ve just read this particular report and have to say it’s about time – though I dispute the fact that London has lead this new cycling velorution. I live in Sheffield and we’ve been commuting in droves for years – we are after all, one of the major outdoor enthusiast cities in the country.

I also agree with some of Nigel Havers’ comments regarding renegade cyclists (aren’t we all just a little bit?) but he still needs a kick up the arse for tarring us all with the same brush. He needs to calm down and get on a bike – do him the world of good.

Up the revolution! (excuse the spelling).

  1. I can’t believe I can’t spell led properly.

  2. A good leader too, if you follow the links …
