Biggest perk of being a politician? People go out of their way to find your stolen bike.
Days after Notting Hill was mobilised to retrieve Cameron’s bike, Camden councillor Rebecca Hossack’s bike was stolen. She contacted the Camden New Journal and the next day they published a story and a picture of her bike.
[Rebecca has much more style than Cameron; she had bought a green Azor Oma from our shop].
Within hours, the Police was alerted that the green bike had been spotted, chained to a lamp-post. The saddle had been removed; other than that the bike was fine and Councillor Hossack cannot believe her luck.
The episode also lays to rest the myth that an attractive, visually striking bike is more likely to be stolen. Wrong: thieves know that it is more risky to sell a ‘remarkable’ bike than a standard Trek. And those who ignore this fact are more likely to get caught.
