Two pieces of good news:
- Brand new double-decker racks more than double the capacity of secure parking at Waterloo
- The racks are positioned conveniently outside the entrance in the centre of the main concourse (next to Costa Coffee ), providing quick and easy access between the station and the existing cycle path.

They have left no space for anything which does not fit on a rack – I have an 8 freight.
And they have left the smokers where they are to drop fag packet into helmets and bakfiets, christiania and 8 freight bikes left by the racks. Which the smokers seem to do as though it were a right given the lack of anything into which to stub their fags.
They have also put a chain round the whole edifice which means a bizarre and mildkly irritating walk around all the bikes to get to the station after locking up or squeeziing past a smoker standing in the only small gaps between bollards and bikes.
A start but by no means really worth the wait. 2 out of 10 for effort. Railtrack could do better given that they could even have put this set of racks under cover only 10 yards away without any greater cost or trouble
