The Bobike child seats are the best we have found on the market. Made in the Netherlands and very popular in Denmark (which tells you something about their quality), these safety seats come in 5 different versions, Mini+ (for the front), Juniorm, Maxi+ , Maxi+ city and Maxi+ Tour . The Mini + now has fittings for Classic quill stems found on most city bikes and a Fitting for ahead stems found on most mountain bikes.
The rear seats feature a unique 3 point support design which provides greater stability and comfort for the child. Safe and compact, they come in 2 types, one classic design and a new universal Bracket that will fit on most bikes; you can then detach the seat in 15 seconds. The compact design ensures a participatory disposition by the child.
Children love to be in pole position. If your passenger is still very young (9 months - 3 years) then he or she will enjoy pointing things to you from the vantage point of the Mini+. It can be used until the child is 15kg. For all-seasons riding, the optional windscreen will take the chill out of those winter rides or keep the child dry in the autumn. Be aware that the classic bracket fits on a quill stem only; a special bracket has been developed for Ahead set (typically seen on mountain bikes) but it cannot be used when the frame size is too big. (Best to bring the bike in).
The Maxi+ fits on the rear of bikes with or without racks. Its solid three-point fixing ensures that it will not sway and unbalance the rider. The footrests are adjustable and the seat can be used by children weighing up to 22 kg.The Maxi+ City is a version with built in foot rests and an adjustable padded belt system and integrated spoke protectors while the Maxi+ Tour has added headrests for comfort
The Junior is for older children up to 7-8 years old. It has no side panels, so the child needs to be confident in balancing on the seat, and although strapped, it is best that he/she does not fall asleep. When not in use, the seat flips down providing a sturdy surface for carrying goods. It also features a rear ledge so the parent can fit a briefcase behind the child, on the way to school and then office.
