We have recently been approached by a leading British fashion designer for studying the possibility of using bicycles for their fashion show in February. We told them that it was a brilliant idea (of course!) but we feel that in a way the bikes need almost not be noticed; in other words they should not make a statement but just blend in and enhance the clothes being shown. Guy Hills passed by the shop sporting his fabulous Safari Suit. He was accompanied by dapper Gary Fisher, proud owner of a Dashing Tweeds suit, and now of a brass Sogreni bell. Guy left with us his new Dashing gilet and his latest creation: reflective leg warmers. I have been wearing the former for the past three days: it is extremely comfy and effective against the early morning chill; at night it glows. The Danish Design Council is hosting Dreams on wheels, an exhibition presenting Danish bicycle culture from several points of view: Design, ergonomics, technology, urbanism – the bicycle as a means of transportation and the bicycle as life style. The exhibition presents bicycles from the Danish bicycle manufacturers Biomega, Christiania Bikes, Winther, Sögreni, Tangram, Pedersen, Bycyklen and Leitra and a prototype, Camp-let.
